Office for Translational Research

The OTR has a pool of managers in place that can cater for your project, ideally at the conception stage but also as and when required. Translational research projects typically require proactive project management as a funder requirement.

Our project managers implement, manage and deliver translational projects. These projects may be funded by the MRC, charities, NIHR or industry. They usually have several work packages spanning different departments or institutions. The process often involves a clinical trial.

Project managers assist researchers in the prioritisation of tasks in order to meet milestones. This involves assisting the project team and researchers in devising scientific protocols, regulatory submissions for the project and preparing funders' reports. It also comprises optimising the interaction between the different partners - e.g. senior scientists, clinical staff, regulatory personnel, administrative officers, CRO, industrial contact and funder representatives - on the project and working with the research teams to deliver project objectives within agreed time and financial budgets. Our model provides expert support throughout your project life-cycle. The OTR will also help you to go on the next stage of your project once completed.

We are currently managing an MRC DPFS, a Wellcome Trust Innovator award, the interdisciplinary aspect of an CRUK RadNet award, an MRC Stratified Medicine, and the Sunway collaboration. Contact the OTR team for further information.
